Back in 2016, The Garden City Projects was established by Brigette Nelson; a studio and storefront (with a mini ramp) that evolved into a place for anyone and everyone to gather for anything from art shows, concerts, poetry readings to private parties. Over the course of the GCP’s existence, Kait Hendrix moved in and established her own barber shop, now known as Mullet Proof. Izze Rumpp, with a longtime dream of having her own vintage boutique, also made the GCP her home, creating the darling shop we all love, Nana’s. Towards the end of last year, we had to say good bye to The Garden City Projects and close those doors. Not wanting the spirit of the shop to die, we found a quaint space in the basement of the historical Idanha Building in the heart of downtown Boise. After a solid month of non-stop remodeling the space on our own and with the help of our amazing friends, we transformed a dingy basement into a cozy storefront that is home to us all. Maven is a do it yourself space, sharing our work as well as the work of the creative people around us, killer vintage finds and of course Mullet Proof.
